Trusses and Roofing
Setting the Roof Trusses and sheeting/shingling the roof
.
June 4, 2012
.
These pictures were taken on Monday June 4th and Tuesday
June 5th; the roof was constructed and "papered" on Monday and the shingles
were put on on Tuesday
.
Preps for the Roof Work
....
.
.
On the picture on the left, they had taken the cover
off the door and as Mindy said, it looks like with a house now that you can
see the front door. In the center picture, they have put down a walkway so
you can get in and the left shows the crane getting ready to unload the truck
with the roof supplies
.
....
.
.
Just unloading supplies off the truck and moving the Trusses
so they are not in the way
.
....
.
.
More unloading
.
....
.
.
Finishing the unload - you can see an empty truck at the end.
.
Stripping the Temporary Roofs of of the Modules
....
.
.
The modules has these little "mini roofs" to protect them
on the road trip and to protect the inside until the roof was set - The roofers
are topside starting to remove the these temporary roofs.
.
....
.
.
You can see them pulling the plastic off on the master
bedroom module
.
....
.
.
After taking the plastic off, the remove the structure
that was built to staple the plastic to - they are moving on to the next module
.
Installation of the Trusses
....
.
.
First Truss going up - also known as the "Gable End".
.
....
.
.
----Second and Third Truss
.
....
.
.
Couple of pictures of #4 and then the 7th Truss on the way
.
....
.
.
More trusses - the pictures on the left and middle
are the trusses for the Great Room; you can see the vault. The truss on the
right has the vault in the back for the Great Room and the vault in the
front for the foyer
.
....
.
.
A couple more Great Room/Foyer trusses and then the
house with all the trusses on them (I was off doing other things so I did
not take a lot of pictures for awhile)
.
Putting the OSB sheets on the Roof
....
.
.
Sheets are going on - these guys carried the first 6 or 8 sheets up the ladder by hand
.
....
.
.
After they got enough sheets on, the built a little platform
and the crane brought up a bunch of panels
.
....
.
.
Putting the sheets down-
.
....
.
.
More sheets being put down - starting on the left side
.
....
.
.
You can see the left side being built - They did the same
thing over here - carried the fist 6 or so sheets by hand and then
had the crane put some sheets on.
.
....
.
.
The crane is putting the bundle of sheeting on the roof for the other side
.
....
.
.
Sheets are being put down
.
....
.
.
As they were finishing up the front, half the crew went
to the back side of the house - the crane held the stack until the set enough
sheets to build the platform
.
....
.
.
You can see how there were about 6 or 8 sheets turned
sideways so the could start the sheeting on the back
.
....
.
.
I went inside the house and took a few pictures - these were
taken from the Great Room (because the Great Room is vaulted, the ceiling was
not installed.
.
....
.
.
Couple of more pictures from inside of the back of the house -
then a picture of the progress on the front of the house
.
....
.
.
Finishing up the front and they are carrying the leftover
sheets from the font to the back side of the house.
.
....
.
.
Taking more sheets to the back of the house and a couple
of pictures of the back side of the house.
.
....
.
.
Finishing up the back of the house.
.
Papering the Roof
....
.
.
They put the "ice dam" rubber coating down and then the
paper - they are no longer using tar paper, they use the plastic white paper
.
....
.
.
Finishing up the paper
.
End of the day
.
They also completed "papering" the back of the house;
and then the left to come back on Tuesday to put the shingles on.
.
June 6th, 2012
.
Day two of the roofing - There are not a lot of early
pictures because it was raining like crazy until about 10:30 am. The roofers
were going to wait for it to stop raining but they went inside the house and
it was leaking pretty bad. They did a lot of work while it was raining and
I wasn't taken pictures so the camera would not get wet.
.
Shingling the Roof
....
.
.
This is where they were (picture on the left) when it
stopped raining about 10:30 or 11 am
.
....
.
.
The front is pretty close to done and they
are getting ready to move the crane
.
....
.
.
The crane is out of the way and you can finally see what
the house looks like - the "un-shingled" area is where the carport ties in; they
did end up covering that with the "ice dam" material before they left
.
.
ALL DONE!!!
....
.
.
Pictures with the roof all done - really looks like a
house now
